A charity concert online · May 14, 2020
Covers + Causes.
Born in lockdown. Artists from all over the world played two cover songs each for a charity, a friend of that charity told its story, and every donation went straight to the charity — none of it passed through Altruistica. The second Covers + Causes concert is planned for May 2027.
Presenting Homeboy Industries
Martin Sheen, for Homeboy.
Each charity was introduced by someone who believes in it. For Homeboy Industries — the Los Angeles organization that offers hope, training and support to formerly gang-involved and recently incarcerated men and women — that was Martin Sheen.

What it did
- 150K+views on Facebook and the other platforms

How it works
A concert with nothing in the middle.
- Each concert pairs artists with charities — up to seven of each.
- Every artist performs two cover songs, recorded at home and sent in.
- Every charity is introduced with a short presentation on its history and its work.
- The concert goes live on Facebook and is re-posted on all platforms.
- All donations go directly to the charities through their own links. Artists hit by the pandemic share theirs too.
For four causes
Who the concert was for.
From the deck sent to every artist and presenter before the first show.
Artists and charities hit by COVID-19
Independent and signed artists alike, each with a link to their own fundraiser or website.
The sick and the homeless
The most vulnerable during the pandemic, through organizations with a proven track record.
Children and youth
Young people, and the programs that give them a better start.
The environment and wildlife
The same cause behind our own work on the Sian Ka’an coast.
